Exhibition “『Revive Time』 Kaki Tree Project in Kochi” The Museum of Art, Kochi

Since a curator of the museum, Ms. Mio Nagayama expressed a desire for tree planting and also -“Revive Time” Kaki Tree Project in Kochi- was proposed, the exhibition was held at the Museum of Art, Kochi prior to tree planting. The exhibition was organized because the museum wished to spread the network of people. who are involved in “the Kaki Tree”, through the exhibition and workshops, which set the stage for people to think about peace and life.

The exhibition consisted of 3 parts, that were “Kaki Tree Project Documentary”, “Connection Collection”? and “Somewhere”. “Kaki Tree Project Documentary” introduced the project’s past activities including display of the panels on 24 tree planting sites worldwide which participated in the project. “Connection Collection”? exhibited works of approximately 100 artists who have connection with the museum and “Somewhere” exhibited an image project by the local photographer, Mr. Satoru Yoshioka. For “KAKI TALK”, a talk by Ms. Masako Kuroishi from Takamatsu City, who experienced the atomic bombing in Hiroshima, was held on the 11th of August and a talk by Tatsuo Miyajima and Mr. Nobuo Koike on the Kaki Tree Project was held on the 25th of August. Also, during the exhibition period, 4 days from the 26th of July through the 29th, Mr. Seigo, an artist, conducted workshop “KAKI de ART”. Mr. Seigo and children together made their unique persimmon tree and add fruit and leaves using their precious things. They also made persimmon seeds from stones they picked up from the river and beach by coloring them and drawing pictures, and displayed them at a place of their choosing.
After the exhibition, a related exhibition, “From Dappan (Escape from the Domain) Road to Kaki Tree” was held at the Museum of Art, Kochi, and the long-term Kaki Tree Project including “Hand-made Musical Instruments Workshop” and “Kaki Tree Musical Band” was implemented and continued until the tree planting ceremony on the 17th of February, 2002.
