Planting Ceremony / Martiri di Piazza Loggia Primary School

A series of tree planting ceremonies were held in 8 locations in March 2010 in the Province of Brescia, Italy, and this was one of them.

In the afternoon of 24 March, the tree planting ceremony was held at Martiri di Piazza Loggia Primary School. The school is located at the foot of the mountain in the town of Collebeato. The kaki tree was planted in just about the center of the schoolyard, which was rich in nature, and a beautiful silver plate was attached. They showed hospitality with their handmade items and decorated other trees in the schoolyard with origami. A painting which depicted “life and death” of a big kaki tree was displayed in the schoolyard and children came out of the school building one after another and lined up around the painting. There were about 200 of them. PTA also participated in the ceremony and the parents were warmly watching over their children. Children in the upper grades recited poems and those in the early grades sang a song. It was a peaceful tree planting ceremony and their clear voice echoed forever in the mountain town.
