Exhibition ”『Revive Time』 Kaki Tree Project in Hara Museum Arc” Hara Museum Arc

From November 6th, 2004 to January 10th, 2005
Exhibition by 『Revive Time』 Kaki Tree Project Executive Committee

The Hara Museum Arc in Shibukawa City, Gumma Prefecture applied for the project and they also proposed an exhibition since the project is considered a program which has taken a step forward in the community and has a sociality and a universality which are not found in the traditional concept of art exhibitions at a museum.

A variety of workshops were proposed by the executive committee members for the exhibition. On the 6th of November, the opening day of the exhibition, two workshops were held for the local children. At the workshop “Let’s listen and see – What is the Kaki Tree Project?” by an artist, Mr. Anken Kidani, a picture card show was performed to tell the stories on such themes related to the seedlings from the bombed tree as “life”, “peace” and “future”. At the workshop “Let’s draw – Your feelings into a drawing and your wishes into a shape” by another artist, Ms. Misa Akiyama, the children who watched the picture card show by Mr. Kidani expressed how they felt about the show with shapes and colors, and drew on top of the huge persimmon tree drawn on the wall of the exhibition room. The huge persimmon tree created at the workshop was on display during the exhibition period. Afterward, the leaves on which wishes for “peace” and “life” are written were pasted on top of it by the children who visited the museum. A persimmon tree map which introduced the activities of the project was exhibited in the exhibition site. The persimmon tree post box was also installed in order to receive new applications for planting. The huge persimmon tree created at the workshop was on display after the exhibition period and for a while even after the tree planting ceremony that was held on 14th of May 2005.
