Mr. Jonathan Adamson of Place heard about the Kaki Tree Project from Mr. Bruce Allan, who organized the tree planting ceremony on 15th of March 2002 in Gloucester, UK, and applied for the project to be held at Nagasaki Hiroshima Memorial Site at Edgerton Cemetery
Place has been promoting a monument at this memorial site on behalf of public institutions and has been active with the support from cemetery association of the local government.
Edgerton Cemetery has a history of 150 years and is located 3/4 mile away from the center of the town of Huddersfield.
The tree will be planted at the central part of the cemetery, near the planned monument of Nagasaki/Hiroshima. However, according to Mr. Adamson’s wishes, the tree planting ceremony with many guests will not be held until the tree firmly takes root.
The seedling already arrived at Edgerton and the temporary planting ceremony was held with a few children.
Mr. Adamson wishes to create a symbolic place of “Revival of Time” in Huddersfield and use it for education.
