Volunteers from the executive committee of “Ogaki Expo in 2000”, after 400 years from that battle.held in Ogaki City in 2000 set up the “O-kaki Project Executive Committee” and are promoting the Kaki Tree Project to elementary schools and junior high schools in Ogaki City. After planting the trees in the park of Ogaki Castle, Kono Elementary School and Higashi Junior High School in 2000, they planted 4 more trees in 2001, 8 more in 2002, 6 more in 2003, 6 more in 2004, 2 more in 2005 and 3 more in 2006 in locations such as Sunomata Elementary School, Kamiishizu Junior High School and Koto Children’s Park.
On the 10th of October 2009, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first tree planting, the festival “O-kaki Chorus with a Theme – Bond –” was held and a huge chorus of 3,000 people consisted of children, students and adults from the city sang together.
