In March 2000, Kaki tree was planted in “B.Galuppi” di Burano, a public farm in the island Scarpa-volo Mazzorbo, which is located in Adrian Sea, 30min ship distance from Venice. The planting site was in the grape field in the farm. It was a big planting ceremony with 450 students from 9 elementary schools around Venice. It was realized with a few teaches from Venice who visited Japan pavilion in the biennale. Ms.Laura Biondi was one of them and took an initiative. Planting Ceremony / Ogaki Castle Park
The name of Ogaki city used to mean “Big Kaki”. The Ogaki Castle is known as the place that had been occupied by famous commander while important battle in Japanese history in 1600. Due to that, it was registered as the national treasure. As the memorial event of that battle, the city government organized Ogaki Expo in 2000, after 400 years from that battle. Ms. Nobuko Yamada, a member of Ogaki Expo Executive committee, suggested planting kaki trees as the project for future, not only looking back in past battle. From June 12th to Nov 7th, 1999 Exhibition by 『Revive Time』 Kaki Tree Project Executive Committee. The Venice Biennale is a major contemporary art exhibition that takes place every two years, with a history of more than one hundred years.With persimmon saplings on display at the center of the event space, the committee introduced themselves and explained about their past activities. From May 28th to August 25th, 1999 Organized by Heso laboratory (laboratory of navel) Exhibition by 『Revive Time』 Kaki Tree Project Executive Committee We released information about exhibition in Venetia Biennale, which was held in same time in Italy, and recruited for new participants. In addition to photographs and videos, we displayed the kaki tree made with bronze. We introduced contents of the project through activities and expression by who participated the project. While the exhibition, “Kaki-mi café”, “A snail’s runaway from home”, “Tsunagi-e”, and more workshops were held at the open space of the Language Center.

Planting Ceremony / Epinay National Stadium
In 1998, Ms. Miho Cibot who was living in Paris and presides the Nagasaki Hiroshima hydrogen bomb research institution sympathized with the kaki tree project and applied for planting kaki trees. With some bumps and detours, it’s decided to plant kaki trees in Anger and Epinay and two baby trees were planted at side of Epinay National Stadium. Posters of the project were put at the venue and the workshop in that participants folded cranes with origami was held at city festival. Unfortunately, on that day, NATO started airstrikes to Kosovo. Children fold cranes with pray for the world peace.

Bordeaux is famous for wine. When a kaki tree were planted in Bordeaux, there was strange nameplate was on that kaki tree. It said, “spare” because Ms. Chantal Rusell Le Roux, who is an artist working with her theme, nature, brought back a kaki tree which was a backup for the exhibition, “Donai Yanen! Et maintenant!” at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in French, and planted it. They organized a festival, “KAKI TIME” with their friend and children in October. Akabane Nature Park in the Kita district of Tokyo is the site of a former military factory. Utilizing a piece of land with that sort of history, the Kita district took a unique approach by having local residents participate in creating the park. In 1996, when second-generation persimmon trees from World War II atomic bombings were first exhibited (“Water Ripples ‘95” Watari Museum of Contemporary Art, Sept 2– Oct 1), and the Kita district learned that they were up for adoption, the trees were gladly afforded space in the park. Because of her passionate action, Anger and Saint-Denis in French applied to plant kaki trees and four trees were sent to French.
