Public Park near the Municipality House, Passirano Planting Ceremony
(Passirano, Brescia, Italy)

March 2014. People gathered at Teatro Civico (Civilc Theater) and first the musical band played the welcome song. Then speeches by the village chief, councilor for public education followed, and a concert by the middle school students who take music courses. Afterward, people walked in procession carrying the kaki tree from the Teatro Civico to Parco del Municipio (Public Park). The tree was planted in the park, and children read their essays of how they felt about the tree-planting. The town officials will take care of the tree, and they will pass on “peace” to primary and middle school children through the tree.

Don Angelo Colombo has produced 49 pieces of fruit! They carried out the tree-planting ceremony on 24 March 2010 with the elementary school children of Travagliato. The other day, the fifth-grade pupils went to the senior care home to check the tree. They found out that the tree has grown much bigger and produced 49 pieces of fruit. The children have sent an email to Dr. Ebinuma saying that they are looking forward to picking the fruit.

News from Shiraume Kindergarten, Higashi-gyonin Kindergarten
(Aizu-wakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan)

The saplings from the bombed kaki tree were planted at Shiraume Kindergarten and Higashi-gyonin Kindergarten on 7 March 2013. Children made the “Kaki Babies” drawings during the workshop held on 22 February 2013. The Aizu craftsmen have just finished making fine, pretty boxes to keep these drawings. They will be carefully kept inside the boxes for 10 years. When they get together again in 10 years from the planting, they will open them. Planned Environment Therapy Trust Planting Ceremony

The Planned Environment Therapy Trust is an enterprise which supports children and adults who have emotional and psychological wounds. Mr. Jonathan Adamson, who applied for the planting at the Tower House in Edgerton Cemetery, took the  initiative in the planting at the Planned Environment Therapy Trust. With the help of Mr. Bruce Allan (applicant for the planting at Nature in Art, UK in 2002), Mr. Adamson set up a small table top exhibition for the day to provide information about kaki tree. Mr. Bruno Bertone from the Association ALEMA, a volunteer association, applied for the planting in Salerno. The association consists of people of a wide range of ages. For the past 25 years, it has been striving for the objectives such as friendship, solidarity, peace and respect for nature through various activities. The association has set an opportunity to think about how the tragedy of the World War II affected Salerno and learn about Mamma Lucia this year. Liceo Scientifico Statale Augusto Righi Tree Planting Ceremony

Liceo Scientifico Statale Augusto Righi applied for planting in remembrance of a student named Lorenzo, who died in August 2011. The school building which holds about 1,000 students is actually located in a different place. However, the tree planting ceremony took place in the front yard of the early 20th century building. In the building, they aired images of the late student, and hung many messages from the ceiling with thread. Arboreto Giancarlo Cipressi is a newly opened arboretum in Santa Maria Arabona. The sapling from the bombed kaki tree was planted there. The vast arboretum which surrounded by the beautiful mountains collects more than 90 species of trees. They planted the kaki tree in the middle of the arboretum as they consider it the most important. Ms. Cinzia Toto, a journalist who applied for the Project, hopes that the new arboretum will become open, accessible space to the people nearby where anyone who wishes to learn more about the plants and trees can come. B & B Joyful People Planting Ceremony

Some of the Executive Committee Members voiced concern that a B&B was a private property, thus unsuitable for the Project. However, people come to visit his B&B from all over the world, and he planned a great tree-planting ceremony. He made the town of Alberobello, local schools and people get involved in the discussions of what each of us should do to contribute to the world peace in our everyday life. Mura is a peaceful village that is situated 20km from the Lake Idro and surrounded by beautiful mountains. The principal of “G. Marconi” Primary School applied for the planting, but the actual planting site was the park near the Catholic Church in the village. Malegno Town Hall Tree Planting Ceremony

Malegno is a town located about an hour by train from Castegnato. Primary school teachers were the ones who applied. As the school informed the town about its participation in the Kaki Tree Project, it received the full cooperation of the town hall for the tree planting ceremony. The municipal library has also been cooperating with the Project in its publicity through various activities.
